As a retired military intelligence officer, Johan is a thought leader in applying situational awareness to risk management. He has designed, developed and consulted on improving or establishing global people risk management programs for several Fortune 100 clients, twoof the largest university programs in the United States and multiple non-profit organizations. He has also developed country or project-specific crisis management plans for clients in multiple countries, including Algeria, Bahrain, and Pakistan.Johan spent 18 years with iJET, a renowned private intelligence risk management company. At iJET, he was a leading member of the Professional Services group providing consulting services to corporate clients. As Director of Operations, Johan was responsible for coordinating professional risk services, including crisis coordination, evacuations, essential risk management services such as executive protection / secure transportation / due diligence etc. and consulting on risk management program development. During his almost two decades at iJET, Johan coordinated evacuation efforts in Egypt, Haiti, Japan, Lebanon, Liberia and Libya, to name a few. Following his departure from iJET, Johan launched a start-up company, combining technology and professional services to help Fortune 1000 clients assess their global people risk management programs.Prior to his corporate career in the United States, Johan, a native of South Africa, served as an officer for 17 years in theSouth African Air Force. He started his military career as an Air Force intelligence officer, providing intelligence support during the Namibia / Angola conflict. After the war, he transferred into Military Intelligence Division, specializing in intelligence collection. In 1993 he was assigned to the South African Embassy in Washington DC as the Intelligence Liaison Officer, interacting with U.S. DoD and other agencies. Johan resigned his commission from the South African National DefenceForce in 1998 and became a U.S. citizen in 2008.
